My first experience at the potter’s wheel was under the guidance of my grandmother, who had created her own ceramics studio in her garden shed. In 2023, I began exploring the craft further through a pottery course. Since then, I have spent several days a week working in my shared studio in Rotterdam. With a background in photography and a degree from an art academy, I approach ceramics with a strong sensitivity to composition, texture and form.

Ceramics is one of the oldest crafts and emerges through a direct collaboration with natural elements. It is precisely this simplicity and connection to the material that appeals to me. Starting with wheel-throwing, I gradually began experimenting with different techniques, types of clay and glazes. In my work, I seek a balance between simplicity and individuality. Organic forms, natural colours and the handmade character give each object a personality of its own. I allow traces of the making process to remain visible, creating a connection between material, maker and user.
